Once a tree is down in Omokoroa, the stump is what's left — and it's usually more of a problem than people expect. Trip hazard, mower obstacle, sprouting regrowth, or just in the way of whatever you want to do with the space. Grinding takes it below ground level and leaves the site clean.
We grind stumps across Omokoroa and the Western Bay of Plenty. All sizes from small garden stumps to large trunks. Can be combined with tree removal or done as a standalone job. Call 027 600 0446.
Stump grinding at Omokoroa completes the work after tree removal on the peninsula's residential and coastal sections. The soil here is variable — some parts of the peninsula have clay over the ridgeline areas, while the flatter sections near the harbour edge tend to have heavier alluvial soils. Root systems on long-established pohutukawa can extend broadly and deeply, and grinding these stumps requires patience and the right equipment configuration. We grind to 150–200mm below grade as standard, which is appropriate for lawn or garden reinstatement. On compact Omokoroa sections where the stump is close to a fence line, structure, or garden feature, we work carefully to avoid collateral damage from the grinding operation — managing debris and keeping the area contained. Grindings can be spread across the surrounding garden bed or hauled away, depending on the client's preference and what's being planted in the space. The Western Bay of Plenty District Council governs all work in Omokoroa. We carry public liability insurance. Free site assessments.
