Once a tree is down in Te Puke, the stump is what's left — and it's usually more of a problem than people expect. Trip hazard, mower obstacle, sprouting regrowth, or just in the way of whatever you want to do with the space. Grinding takes it below ground level and leaves the site clean.
We grind stumps across Te Puke and the Western Bay of Plenty. All sizes from small garden stumps to large trunks. Can be combined with tree removal or done as a standalone job. Call 027 600 0446.
Stump grinding in the Te Puke area handles the cleanup after shelter tree removal on orchard and rural properties. Macrocarpa stumps in the alluvial soils of the Te Puke lowlands are generally manageable — the root systems are wide but in good soil they tend to be relatively uniform in spread, and the grinding progresses predictably. We grind to 150–200mm below grade as standard, which is adequate for replanting grass or reinstating a garden bed. On orchard properties where the same spot will be replanted with a new shelter tree, we recommend grinding deeper and removing the grindings — macrocarpa grindings are high in carbon, and as they decompose they compete with nitrogen availability for the new root system. For paddock stumps that will be left as pasture, grindings can remain in place. In Te Puke town on residential sections, we work carefully on lawns — positioning the grinder to minimise wheel damage and using boards on softer ground. Western Bay of Plenty District Council jurisdiction. Free site assessments.
